The Distinct Roles in the Equipping Lydia Ministry of Spiritual Renewal Community

How is the Lord calling you? Volunteering with Equipping Lydia simply means "unpaid", we believe that each role is based on a calling and therefore we invite you to discern how the Lord could be calling you to serve in one of these roles. Those who are called to these roles serve because  they have said yes to the Lord and their yes is unto the Lord alone and not to Equipping Lydia.
Equipping Lydia provides the space for you to say yes. If you are saying yes to God and want to serve with Equipping Lydia
contact us at: info@equippinglydia.org and include the name of the role in the subject line.

Spiritual Formation Group Leaders
(Hosts & Facilitators)

Equipping Lydia’s formation groups offer a safe place where women of faith can encounter the love of Jesus together through quiet, prayerful contemplation and sharing. Group Leaders are those willing to offer hospitality or facilitation leadership for their group.

  • Do you feel called to  make others feel welcomed?
  • Would you like to learn how to guide/facilitate conversation/prayer?
  • Do you feel called to help others go deeper into God’s word?
  • Do you long to pray and listen to the Spirit & others in the context of community?

If you said yes to any of these questions you are invited to train and become a volunteer Spiritual Formation Group (SFG) leader with Equipping Lydia. You can provide SFG's online or in person based on your schedule.

Retreat Leadership
(Retreat Shepherds, Hostesses, Prayer Partners)

Equipping Lydia offers a variety of retreat experiences. Retreat leaders are those who are willing to pray for and minister to retreat guests over the course of a retreat experience.

  • Have you experienced the spiritual gift of shepherding, intercession, encouragement, wisdom, discernment, or serving?
  • Do you feel called to create warm and inviting atmospheres for guests .
  • Do you have a love for making others feel welcomed?

If you said yes to any of these questions you are first invited to train to serve on a retreat team as a prayer partner or a hostess.

If you haven't attended a retreat it is highly recommended. Experiencing a retreat would provide you with insight regarding the retreat experience of those who participate.

Soul Friend
(Spiritual Director)

"Anam Cara" is a Gaelic word that translates as "soul friend. " This is a friend who offers a safe space for others to be honest about their life with God. Anam Caras partner with others in organic and intimate but also committed practices of presence.

  • Do your friends regularly seek you out for a listening ear and discernment regarding their journey of faith?
  • Do you have the spiritual gifts of wisdom, discernment, intercession, serving?
  • Are you longing to learn how to listen more than you are heard?
  • Do you have a love for  helping others feel welcomed?
If you said yes to any of these questions the Lord could be calling you to serve through the Ministry of Spiritual Direction. You can begin training by learning how to practice the art of listening. You could serve as a Spiritual Formation group leader, a Holy Listening Facilitator or group member and on a retreat team as Shepherd, hostess, or prayer partner.

You are invited to serve as a volunteer with Equipping Lydia.
